‘Do the thing’ is such a big one. We did a thing. We bought a condo. We’re terrified. We’re sure we overpaid it, it’s kinda far from everything, I walked in today after an hour and a half on various types of public transport and saw the mess the seller left and all the scratches on the walls and all - the - HOLES!!! SO MANY HOLES!! How can someone reasonably make so many holes on their walls? I pulled out like forty fuckin anchors from the wall. And then I spackled that shit and I swear I thought to myself ‘well if this isn’t nice I don’t know what is’, and I hadn’t even read your text yet. I swear by the time I paint the walls it’s gonna be sweet.
YES! The 'do the thing and move on' bit is a huge inherent struggle of mine. Living alone for 2+ years now has forced me to see and name and confront it, finally.
Congrats on the condo!! Holes and all. That's massive! Transforming a space into your own is one of the most singularly tiring but rewarding efforts.

I’ve just had an epiphany. I don’t think younger people today are having trouble ‘adulting’ because they’re somehow dumb and delicate and weak. I think we have made adulting a mission impossible. The complications of insurances, mortgages, rates, fees, financial products, investment assets, strategic liabilities, tax deduction conditions, health insurance deductibles, blah blah blah blah just keep getting more and more and more convoluted, like sticky sticky spider webs and we are running around working more and more with less and less energy to parse all this shit.
